Callaway Gardens
Callaway
Gardens Resort is a popular resort destination in west central Georgia
offering a wide variety of dining, shopping and recreation facilities
distributed across a 14,000 acre property. The diversity that makes Callaway
Gardens so favored by guests also presented infrastructure problems for the
Director of Systems, Ralph Callaway.
Challenge: Over the years the property had acquired 14 different
point of sale systems, most of which were stand-alone. Callaway needed an
integrated system to tie all the hospitality and retail facilities together.
The ultimate goals were to gain centralized reporting of all transactions,
enable a guest to charge any purchase to their room account, and enable any
cashier to operate any terminal on the property without retraining.
Solution: After examining several potential systems and vendors,
Mr. Callaway chose Postec to install a 70 terminal Micros 8700 system. The
8700 was selected because it combined the network integration Callaway
demanded with lower total cost of ownership than competing systems. The
Micros 8700's ability to divide operations by revenue centers and Postec's
local support were also strong factors in the decision.
Results:
Today guests at Callaway Gardens Resort charge meals, greens fees and
fly fishing lessons to their room and are presented with a single summary of
charges when they check out. Management has a wealth of strategic data at
their fingertips and the flexibility to move staff to different facilities
as needed. The increased efficiency of the centralized system will be key to
the resort's future success.
What about Postec's service and training before and after the sale?
Perhaps Ralph Callaway says it best: "It was essential to the success of our
installation to select a partner we could trust. We received a commitment
from all levels of Postec to do whatever it takes to support us. In all
areas Postec has stood behind that commitment." |
